How Do I....

Register for a library card?

- Go into any of our Branch Libraries (See here for a complete list), and ask the Staff Member at the desk for help; it's a simple, straightforward process, and it takes less than 15 minutes.

- Register online here for a temporary card that grants access to our e-resources - a Chinook staff member will be in touch to help you get access with a verified account soon after.

Search the collection?

There are several ways to explore our collection of books, magazines, movies, music, audiobooks, eBooks, and more. Here are some easy ways to find what you are looking for.

To request an item, you will need your library card number and a four-digit PIN (Personal Identification Number) to log in. Your PIN is the last four digits of your phone number, unless you have changed it. To reset your PIN number, please call or visit any branch. Your library card number and PIN are also required to access all e-library services, such as databases and eBooks.

  • Online search
    • Enter a search term (title, author, subject, series) in the search box
    • Hit enter and browse the results
    • Click on View Holdings to see which library has a copy or click Place Hold to reserve a copy for yourself
    • Login with your library card number (no spaces) and your PIN
    • Select a pick-up location
    • Click Submit
    • You will be notified when the item is available for pick-up at your selected branch
  • SILS App
The Saskatchewan Information and Library Consortium (SILS) has created a new app. This app makes it easy to access your account, search for items and place holds from your smart phone or tablet the same way that you would using the Online Search.
    • To download the free SILS app on your smartphone or tablet, search for "Saskatchewan Public Libraries" or "SILS" in your app store
    • Login with your library card number (no spaces) and your PIN
    • Follow the instructions

Reset my PIN?

Librarians preset your PIN to be the last four digits of the phone number you used when you registered. You can change your PIN online at any time. Simply log into your library account, go to Account Settings and then click on Change PIN. You can also change your PIN at the service desk of any Saskatchewan public library or by calling any CRL branch. You will need to show them your library card along with one other piece of ID to change your PIN. If you have forgotten your PIN, click on the "forgot PIN" link on the login page.
